I suffer terribly from a metal-bias. I think I've just made up this word. Anyway, every time I listen to a song which is not metal, even if the song's really good, I tend to think that it would have been better had the guitar riffs been more aggressive, the drums more rapid and had the singer's voice been less sissy-sounding. Can't believe I've said that. :D
But that's how it works for me and for my defense I'd say that lots of people have got the pop or techno or insert-any-type-of-music bias, which is not a bad thing in itself. It just proves that you really like the genre. :D
Anyway, dudettes and dudes and my tired aliens, I'm going to listen to some unmetal music 'cause I'm feeling adventurous.

i'd like to say that genre does not matter much, feelings do. so maybe you got a metal heart <3, oh you iron man.
ReplyDeletei never figured out whether a song would have been better had it been another genre..i go with the music rather :)

ReplyDeleteI am deeply affected by this too morinn. Thanks for bringing this to the front. We should have an organization to cater for this. Ha ha ha!
ReplyDeletekeli, oh yeah the metal heart! i wish i really had it though! :P

elo.nice post sis!!
ReplyDeletemetal sounds like a fun genre. i have never tried listening to it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a hardcore metaller and I've had my share of heavy metal concerts. As time went by I found out that more subtlety in heavy metal is what did attract me to it. It opened my mind to other genres and I now have a huge intake of other genres and subgenres while listening to my good old Heavy thumping metal. Just sit down and try these 3 albums in one go to understand this:
ReplyDeleteBlack Label Society: Mafia
Cynic : Traced in Air
Miles Davis : Kind of Blue
I've listened to the album Mafia, it was simply marvelous. I think I've lost the album. It's got to be somewhere in my drawer. Thanks for reminding me about it. Gonna listen to it again.
ReplyDeleteWhen I listen to a song, it's usually the wordings more than the genre that attracts me. Which is why my playlist consists of all types, from ballads to metal :)
ReplyDeletewell, i guess i can be said to ve the generally diversified-bias! :P
ReplyDeletecoz i tend to listen to about anything - alien vs. non-alien! :P
It's usually the lyrics rather than the genre that attracts me to a song. So metal or not, as long as the lyrics are deep and meaningful, I like it :) Which may explain why, like Nussaibah, my playlist consists of songs from various genres and languages. ^^
