Le bleu et le jaune
I've got a crush on everything that is blue and yellow, combined or not. I've been inspired by Keli's post on primary colors to make up my own version with two primary colors I absolutely love. Of course the crappy cam-phone of mine did not capture well the colors. Aargh, never mind.
The first picture is not from me, it is found on the box of a juice glasses set which I bought recently. I'm proud to say that the glasses are totally mine! hihi.
So much for my yellow and blue crush dudettes and dudes and my yellowed and blued aliens. Cheerios.

That 70s show - season 1
Dudettes and dudes the time has come once again for me to fulfill my MBBian duty and to give birth to a post on this week's theme, which is Seasons. So I thought I'd write about the first season one of my favourite TV shows, That 70s Show.
That 70s Show saw its birth in 1998 on American TVs. It was much later in 2005 that we Mauritians got the opportunity to view it on our national TV and that too I could not watch the show cause at the time that it was aired I was attending tuitions. Then two years later (last year) I got the whole of season 1 as a gift from Jevin. OK. So much for the background information.
Now about the show (I'm talking of season 1 only here), it's truly awesome, trust me. The theme song rocks:

Hanging out...
down the street
the same old thing
we did last week
not a thing to do
but talk to you
out in the streets
Hello Wisconsin!!
down the street
the same old thing
we did last week
not a thing to do
but talk to you
out in the streets
Hello Wisconsin!!
Well the theme song was approximately that, yeah I'm lazy to check.
Then comes the clothes worn by the actors. The show is located in the year 1976, so you get all the package of 70s clothes from Eric's geeky clothes to Donna and Kelso's casual wear to Jackie's posh clothing.
Then you often see all the accessories related to the time like retro washing machines, retro blenders, retro fridges, retro phones... The list is long.
What I personally think kicks ass about the show is Eric's Vista Cruiser and his basement where they often hang out watching TV or having some silly fun.
In season 1, you get to see Eric's birthday and how his mom tries to hide a surprise party without being subtle about it, what happens when you take an old car out of town just to go to a concert and how to deal with it and how to save the money for a Christmas tree but stealing a tree and keeping the money for other things.
Below, images of a very popular artistic scene, the That 70s show way taken from the episode title "Streaking" where the guys decide to streak and finally only Eric manages to do it and that too to divert the attention of an entire audience from his father who was hesitating to ask a question to President Ford.
There are so many other moments like these that can make you fall from your chair for laughing so hard. I just hope you've had the opportunity of watching season 1. It's a must-see according to me.
Anyway, so long dudettes and dudes and my retro aliens. So much for this week's theme.

Sabotage everywhere
Finally, there has been a sort of sabotage regarding the Maha Shivaratree festival. Some people are insisting that it should be on the 6th while we will be celebrating on the 5th. My dad's brother who is a pandit is really mad at this. He's saying that in India it'll be on the 6th. Dunno to what extent some people can go to manipulate our holidays.
Anyway, so long dudettes and dudes and my sabotaged aliens.

Enjoy the silence
Just when you start bragging about how life is peaceful and calm when you live surrounded by a forest and greeneries some things come up to just prove you wrong. One of them is this:
A damn helicopter! This has been going on for years. I guess the place is uninhabited enough to practice aviation or whatever. Guess they did not think that some people might actually try to work on a Sunday afternoon!
Damnit!
Anyway, have an excellent Sunday (or what remains of it) dudettes and dudes and my pissed off aliens. I'm off to kick some serious helicopter ass in my mind!

It's the day
Today is the day. I woke up to heavy rains and winds and thinking why the hell this always happened to me. Can't I have a normal, sunny day for my birthday. I mean please? It's not because I'm piscean that I'm supposed to love water. OK I do love water, but not the kind of water that gets everywhere and ruins birthday plans. Late at night in bed I was thinking that perhaps the forces above were angry at me for something. Yeah I know it's a ridiculous thought but hell don't ask me to think logically at 3 in the morning.
Right now it's almost 10 a.m and I'm waiting for my nani (grandma) to wake up so that I could call her to hear her wishes! Aww she's cute!
Right now I really wanna go to Mahebourg. That's where I was born! I wanna get back to the roots! Perhaps I'll pay the village a visit soon!
Oh and this is Cookie and Kushie, seeing them behave nice towards each other is one of the best birthday gifts I've ever received.
About the birthday food, there would be dhal pita, fried rice and potato chips (special request from me, hihi). For the cakes, there would be the absolutely important birthday cake, barfees and samoussas. I'll be posting pictures by tonight. ;)
It is tonight, so here are the pictures:
The barfee (light orange color, square cakes have been cut by me and the birthday cake decorated by me.) Hihi!
So long dudettes and dudes and my aging aliens. So much for the 23rd.
P.S: Happy birthday PTr! Yeah I share my great day with a political party. How sweet.

Gifts?
When I was a kid I used to know what I wanted for my birthday. I had a list all planned and waited for my parents to ask me what to buy. Now it's different. I don't know what I want, or whether I should ask for something. This year, I'll just let them decide what they want to give me, for a change.
Having said this, I think some flower plants would not be bad as gifts! The garden is a jungle already but I'm always longing for new plants. It's just the gardening craze! I just hope I get over it soon.
Ah so much for today dudettes and dudes and my crazy aliens. I think it's high time I get some real sleep.

How NOT to be me, in some easy lessons
Are you one of those people who have been here and gone out wondering how the hell I could be like that and then dreading the possibility that you become like me at some point in your life? Fear no more! I have a solution for you, it's called how not to be me, in some easy lessons.
First thing you should know: I have always been like that.
And I can actually hear relieved sighs. Yeah I'm happy I cleared out this doubt. But then you'll ask me, what's "that"?. Well that is THAT! That, the way I am, duh! I can't explain further...
Let's move on, shall we?
Second thing you should know: That photo you see on my blog is the best I can ever look.
It's so different from the real me than when I meet people they hardly recognize me! So my advice to you, if you don't want to be like me is to paste an ugly photo of yourself on your blog. Or better yet, don't paste anything at all.
Third thing: Never try to do everything by yourself. Trust others. Others can be intelligent and talented too. If you don't start trusting people you might end up like me, a real control freak who tries to do everything by herself and who gets angry at people because they supposedly did not help her out.
Fourth thing: The world is not trying to compete with you. Life is not just about winning. The earlier you learn this, the more chances you have of not becoming like me.
Fifth thing: Don't adopt incompatible hobbies. Metal and crafts don't go together, no matter how convincing I am in making you believe they do, they don't. Choose hobbies that go well together and you'll be happy for the rest of your life without having to listen to craft freaks constantly bashing metallers and vice versa. Yeah "metaller" does not exist! Like I give a damn!
Ahh! so long dudettes and dudes and my not wanna-be-me aliens!

Found it!
Today I am happy. Perhaps the birthday spirit is crawling in but I feel happy, excited, young... again. I've just brushed my teeth and I came back running, or bouncing to my room.
21 is not such a bad age after all, and I've found my promising event. It's this:
Sounds like a great event; the rock concert especially and the skating! If you happen to pass by Curepipe on Saturday, bounce in. You'll get to see some great bands live and be able to do a little good action by donating your blood! Hihi!
Of course there'll be more promising events coming up before and on the 23rd, I'll keep you posted. So long dudettes and dudes and my bouncy aliens!

Am I free?
Freedom for me is all about watching the clear blue sky undisturbed.
It's about lying on the couch watching cuisine TV without anyone around.
It's about worrying for my dogs without anyone telling me I should not worry.
It's about crying out loud and dancing on a metal song.
It's about eating chocolate mousse without having to skip dinner.
It's about not having to keep any secrets.
In this sense, yes, I can be free...
So tell me, are you free dudettes and dudes and my free aliens?

It's in 1 week
Yeah it's in one week, the damned birthday; it's not that I don't want it to come but the fact that it will make me older is kind of disturbing. I mean who the hell wants to be 21? 20 was cool. I thought it would make me wiser but it turned out to be the same or worst. 20 made made me stupid, it turned me into a craft, art, garden and festivals lover. I can attest I was not like that. Those who've known me since last year can say, yeah I know Morina, that flower lover. And then someone who've known me for more than that will know of my poetry, Egyptology, literary, abstract art, song writing, singing, guitar playing, piercings, fitness, lemon trees, AIDS combating and benevolent periods.
The good thing is that those periods have left in me great memories which I will always cherish and which surface from time to time giving me the opportunity to re-indulge in them. Recently I'm thinking of doing something good again but it will be revealed in due course, I only hope I succeed, before the feared 23rd of this month arrives. Wish me good luck! :)
Anyway, so long dudettes and dudes and my excited aliens. I gotta get back to work.

Signs...
You know how unexcited I am about the whole valentine thingy. But I got to know that the more you repress something, the more it comes chasing after you. That's what happened today when I was frying some chips. Here's a grease mark on kitchen paper:
Yeah if you look closely it has the symbolic shape of a heart.
But that's not all. That's really not all!
Yeah if you look closely it has the symbolic shape of a heart.
But that's not all. That's really not all!
That plant was not like that yesterday! It was freaking not like that! It was all green with just some tiny flowers and now it seems all read with huge, vibrantly red flowers!
Ahemm and now if you tell me those are not signs I'll ask you to kindly swallow your socks. OK, I think I'm just going crazy!
Anyway, take care dudettes and dudes and my crazy aliens. Happy valentine's day. Aargh.

Undecided - Fawkes
I was supposed to start writing something about freedom and then I ended up watching a re re re run of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on TV. Yeah I know the books are far better than the movies. It's a universal truth, I won't disagree with that! But I really enjoyed the movie. Perhaps it was the clear image of the TV, might never know. Anyway, what I really like with Harry Potter movies is the music, it's enticing, I don't know how to describe that, it's really attractive and it keeps playing in my head hours and sometimes days after I've watched one of those movies. Hmmm... and now suddenly I've got the irrepressible urge to start reading each of those books all over again.
So about the Chamber of Secrets, I think the one who did most of the dirty job and who deserves great praises is him:
Yeah Fawkes, the phoenix. He kicks ass. After all it's him who poked the eyes of the basilisk and brought the Sorting Hat for Harry. He was the one who healed Harry's arm with his tears and who flew them all (Ron, Ginny, Gilderoy Lockhart and Harry) out of the Chamber of Secrets. So much job for such a little animal. I suggest we call PETA. Just kidding, really!
Anyway, my father watched the movie with me and he particularly liked Dobby, the house elf. He thought Dobby really looked like Vladimir Putin. Now I know he's not the only one to have noticed that!
Aah, anyway, take care dudettes and dudes and my lovely aliens. It's past midnight and I gotta get some sleep.

Valentine's Day Horrors
You wanna know what's horrible with all these? It's the fake flowers, the plastic gifts, the freaky plush toys. And these form part of original and romantic gifts? Duh! Double duh! Those horrible stuff have invaded almost everywhere you can set your eye on in Port Louis. I bet the situation is the same anywhere else in Mauritius.
Whatever happened to original gifts? Romantic dinners or lunches and flowers? Real, fresh flowers? Huh? Well I guess it's only meant for those who can afford them. In 2006 a flower shop in Quatre Bornes was selling a single rose at 150 rupees. Can you actually imagine the price of a dozen? The flowers sold in the market nearby, still in Quatre Bornes cost lesser than that but then they are not of really great quality. Yeah blame the system or plant flowers!
Anyway, my only advice, if ever I could ever give one to you dudettes and dudes and my aliens reading this is to get some damned originality and try to be creative with your valentine gifts.
