[Spoken]
This is the greatest and best song in the world... Tribute.
Long time ago me and my brother Kyle here,
we was hitchhikin' down a long and lonesome road.
All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon... in the middle... of the road.
And he said:
[Sung]
"Play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul." (soul)
[Spoken]
Well me and Kyle, we looked at each other,
and we each said... "Okay."
[Sung]
And we played the first thing that came to our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Song in the World, it was The Best Song in the World.
Look into my eyes and it's easy to see
One and one make two, two and one make three,
It was destiny.
Once every hundred-thousand years or so,
When the sun doth shine and the moon doth glow
And the grass doth grow...
Needless to say, the beast was stunned.
Whip-crack went his Whoopy tail,
And the beast was done.
He asked us: "(snort) Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."
Rock!
Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah,
Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh!
This is not The Greatest Song in the World, no.
This is just a tribute.
Couldn't remember The Greatest Song in the World, no, no.
This is a tribute, oh, to The Greatest Song in the World,
All right! It was The Greatest Song in the World,
All right! It was the best muthafuckin' song the greatest song in the world.
[2-part skat]
[Spoken]
And the peculiar thing is this my friends:
the song we sang on that fateful night it didn't actually sound
anything like this song.
[Sung]
This is just a tribute! You gotta believe it!
And I wish you were there! Just a matter of opinion.
Ah, fuck! Good God, God lovin',
So surprised to find you can't stop it.
[Skat]
All right! All right!

Learning to fly - SCAR
I'll let you guys judge by having a look at the lyrics...
Verse 1:
Where goes my heart? From where comes my dreams? Maybe its time to find.
Simply to know, simply to feel what's going through my mind
Saying what I feel, has always been so hard for me
So help me, help me please to get out of here
Chorus:
Learning to fly and cross out the skies is all, I'm asking for
I got to try to fly and reach out the stars
Verse 2:
Set out again on that dark road, nothing seems to be easy
What life reserves me, I really don't know, I just got to make my way
Maybe I was a fool to believe that I could succeed
So tell me, tell me what is going through me
Chorus:
Learning to fly and cross out the skies is all, I'm asking for
I got to try to fly and reach out the stars
Post Chorus:
Learning, learning to fly, to cross the skies, Gotta make you want to go
Up with me, deep in your heart and make your dreams become so real and so true,
Gotta make you want to go again, so just close your eyes and come on with me...
You might also feel like visiting SCAR's Facebook page to get more information on the band and to listen to some of their songs. Yeah! \m/

Some kind of music weekend
Cam-whoring, I don't know why Jevin is laughing out loud in the background. :S
Wonder what he's thinking about, might be a big burger. ^o)
The muffins
When I got home I treated myself to some good ole Metallica and again some Machine Head, just to end this music weekend beautifully.
Ah dudettes and dudes and my musical aliens, I hope you had a great music day. I'm off for some TV watching.

The metal-bias
But that's how it works for me and for my defense I'd say that lots of people have got the pop or techno or insert-any-type-of-music bias, which is not a bad thing in itself. It just proves that you really like the genre. :D
Anyway, dudettes and dudes and my tired aliens, I'm going to listen to some unmetal music 'cause I'm feeling adventurous.

Youtube is not Youcrap
While I was viewing the videos, I came across that of a girl, who was singing the song in front of her web cam while the music was playing along in the background. And I was like uh-oh, what the hell is that? First her voice was lame, second the overall quality of the video was lame.
To be honest, I don't mind people posting their own videos on Youtube, I have done that too and the whole purpose of the website is about that plus by doing this, users are not violating any artist's copyright but then people should self-assess their videos before placing them on Youtube and before giving them a title that is apt to attract lots of visitors.
On the bright side, I came across a video of some drunk dudes singing the song One and it gave me a hell of a laugh. That video was original and fun. Unfortunately I can't find it today. Bad luck!
Goodnight dudettes and dudes and my creative aliens.
Update: Found the video. :D Here goes:

Found it!
21 is not such a bad age after all, and I've found my promising event. It's this:
Sounds like a great event; the rock concert especially and the skating! If you happen to pass by Curepipe on Saturday, bounce in. You'll get to see some great bands live and be able to do a little good action by donating your blood! Hihi!
Of course there'll be more promising events coming up before and on the 23rd, I'll keep you posted. So long dudettes and dudes and my bouncy aliens!

The 1 word tag
I've been tagged by Miranda and the tag consists of answering 4 questions with only one word for each question. Quoting Miranda:
4 question! Only 4! Looks simple isn't it? The answer will have to be only 1 word. You can add a describtion or picture to explain your answer, but the answer itself will have to be 1 word.
Sounds pretty easy and tough at the same time! So let me give it a try:
Mastodon.
2. What sucks?
The difficulty of this question lies in the fact that I have to choose only 1 answer.
It would be disorder.
3. What's awesome?
This.
4. What's lame?
Anger.
So much for my 1 word tag dudettes and dudes and my wordless aliens. It wasn't so hard afterall.

Descend the Shades of night - Machine Head
So, the song from Machine Head that makes it to my crush of the month is Descend the Shades of Night. This is another song which will make those journalists who think rock songs do not have lyrics wish they did not voice their dumb opinions out loud in a newspaper. (Browse the archives to know what I'm talking about.)
Anyway, when I first heard the song,I instantly loved it. The lyric's awesome, the music's awesome, Robb Flynn's voice is awesome. The song is supposed to be about death, as you'll see by reading the lyrics
The last slivers of dusk have passed
Accept the dawn to ease the fear
One day I will not be here
Death she comes and with her thread
Upon me ties a mask for dead
Its tears of blood begin to seep
And bleed the sky
Descend the shades of night
Death shines her golden light
Across a blackened sky
All our hate is a product of a world...
We created
Ashen clouds obscure my brain
Doubts begin to turn to shame
Insecureness tears at bliss
I hate me for this weakness
Faith drives me to carry on
And take the road less travelled on
Resentment swallowed means to drown
The poison down
The shades of night descend
Descend the shades of night
Death shines her golden light
Across a blackened sky
All our hate is a product of a world...
We created
Scream with me
Bleed with me
Seethe with me
Sing with me
Free me
Free me
Free me
Descend the shades of night
Death shines her golden light
Across a blackened sky
The shades of night descend
and by watching the video (live from rock am ring):
My favourite part is:
Scream with me
Bleed with me
Seethe with me
Sing with me
What I think when I hear it; I think of all those who've been victims of wars, genocides, slavery or the holocaust. I think the only way of truly understanding their sufferings would be scream with them and bleed with them. And finally, singing brings hope. It reminds me of that little song in Animal Farm:
Beast of England, Beast of Ireland
Beast of every land and clime
hearken to my joyful tidings of the golden future time.
I've just read on the holocaust yet again, and I just wish to say something before ending this post; naming a band Holocaust is really LAME! I don't care if your music is good or not. At least take the pain to find out the meaning of the word you are using, because it's obvious you just found the word cool and bang!
Aah, so long dudettes and dudes and my hopeful aliens.

Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll
But before I proceed, note to MBB members: it is not because I'm the last one to post that the post is a masterpiece
So what's sex, drugs and rock n roll for me? For me, it's a cliche, the kind of stuff that some people think is cool but which is not, it's the kind of stuff which has given rock a bad name. I'm referring mostly to the Mauritian context. The first metal concert I've been to was a fiasco, I'm not talking about the musical part. People were drunk, an adolescent was drugged and raped and I fled home with Keli, wondering what the hell happened and most importantly, why? I had been there in the first place because I wanted to see and most importantly hear what those Mauritian metal bands could do. I did not go there to watch people getting laid in what was without any doubt a public place. I did not go there to have drugs. I went there for the music and I can't ever understand why people mix those three together.
There's a place and time and state of mind for everything. A concert is the place to enjoy the music. If you love the music, you don't need to be on dope to enjoy it. If you love the music you would not want to get laid while listening to it.
For me sex, drugs and rock n roll don't go together. As Anteblog said, even pop stars are drug addicts. And I guess for me rock is a high enough to enjoy it on its own without the help of stimulants.
So long dudettes and dudes and my rolling aliens. So much for my theme of the week participation.

All the same - Sick Puppies
- Shimon Moore, doing lead vocals and guitar
- Emma Anzai on bass and doing backing vocals
- and Mark Goodwin on drums.
Here's the lyrics:
As long as you come to me
But I dont like illusions I cant see
Them clearly
I dont care, no I wouldn't dare
To fix the twist in you
You've shown me eventually what you'll do
I dont mind
I dont care
As long as you're here
[Chorus]
Go ahead and tell me you'll leave again
You'll just come back running
Holding your scarred heart in hand
It's all the same
And I'll take you for who you are
If you take me for everything
And do it all over again
It's all the same
Hours slide and days go by
Till you decide to come
But in-between it always seems too long
Suddenly
But I have the skill, yeah
I have the will, to breath you in while I can
However long you stay is all that I am
I dont mind, I dont care
As long as you're here
Go ahead and tell me you'll leave again
You'll just come back running
Holding your scarred heart in hand
It's all the same
And I'll take you for who you are
If you take me for everything
And do it all over again
It's always the same
Wrong or Right
Black or White
If I close my eyes
Its all the same
In my life
The compromise
I'll close my eyes
Its all the same
Go ahead say it
You're leaving
You'll just come back running
Holding your scarred heart in hand
It's all the same
And I'll take you for who you are now
If you take me for everything
Do it all over again
It's all the same
And the video:
A video of this song was used to promote the Free Hugs Campaign in 2006 but that's not how I came to know about this song, I simply got it on my mp3 player. Guess Jev was listening to that without telling me about it!
My Favourite part is:
"Go ahead and tell me you'll leave again
You'll just come back running
Holding your scarred heart in hand
It's all the same"
I'm often saying I'm leaving but I never do. That's cause I always want to be with him. Anyway, that was something personal from me! For once! hihi
Well, that was my crush of the month! And I wish you a really merry Christmas just in case I'm not around during that time, preparing for dinners and stuff! Take care dudettes and dudes and my convoluted aliens! Have a wonderful end of year!

Vermilion part 2 - Slipknot
All the torment and the pain
Leaked through and covered me
I'd do anything to have her to myself
Just to have her for myself
Now I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do when she makes me sane.
She is everything to me
The unrequited dream
A song that no one sings
The unattainable, Shes a myth that I have to believe in
All I need to make it real is one more reason
I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do when she makes me sad.
But I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
A catch in my throat choke
Torn into pieces
I won't, no!
I don't wanna be this...
But I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
She isn't real
I can't make her real
She isn't real
I can't make her real
Quoting Wikipedia:
The lyrics in Vermilion have been heavily influenced by the concepts of German philosopher Frederich Nietzsche and French philosopher René Descartes. "I'm a slave, and I am a master" refers to Nietzsche's master-slave morality theory, while "I exist through my need" and "She isn't real, I can't make her real" refers to Cartesian dualism.
It has been suggested that the title Vermilion comes from the word "Verisimilitude" which means "seeming to be real." This is supported by the lyrics "she isn't real", not to mention the fact that Vermilion itself is a colour, a shade of red implying the relations of the color red to the lyrics. Furthermore, in magazine interviews, lead singer Corey Taylor had stated that it was a love song for his now former wife Scarlett. This further ties in with the name of the song, "Vermilion" being a shade of red and Scarlett as well.
And the video, beware, it's a little weird!
Anyway, today I realised that the month is almost over and that I did not blog about a crush of the month, so I opened my media player and played lots of new songs but nothing really inspired me until I remembered this one. I asked Jev to send it to me because I never backup my music and I end up losing them every time my laptop has mood swings.
My favourite part in this song is this:
She is everything to me
The unrequited dream
A song that no one sings
Ahh the song no one sings! This is so damn romantic. OK I need to get a hold of myself. Been a while I haven't been like this. I think I'll spend the night reading and listening to Vermillion.
So long!

3 things to die for and my top musical picks.
The 3 things that I'd die for would be:
1. A room the size of my home.
2. Google.com
3. My brain when I was 11 years old.
OK! all these things are to be taken lightly, except no. 3! hihi.
Ah! and now my top musical picks!!
Now now! I did blog about those as my crush of the month. So it's time for some posts digging.
hmm, apart from those, I totally love movie soundtracks, especially those which feature some kinda unknown music bands.
So here goes dudettes and dudes, a tag that was not really well answered. I'm off for some sleep. But before I go, here's the name of the people I'm tagging. Jevin, Keli, Rooch, BbZush, Roushdat, Adi, Waz, Manico, Lord Manila.
I won't mind if you don't do it!

The Bleeding - Five Finger Death Punch
The story behind my discovery of this song is a quite interesting one. In fact I was pressuring Jevin to look for a song with which I could fall in love and ultimately blog about as my crush of the month. So after some days he made me listen to The Bleeding. We were in the bus but I could still hear some damn things and I fell in love with the solo (Jevin wanted to immortalise the moment with a photo. Thank God I did not let him take it). Then I wasn't really in love with the lyrics; I absolutely hate songs that talk about love and relationships.
But then dudettes and dudes, came this part:
You're the darkest burning star, you're my perfect disease
And it made me think of someone I really love and he is...
Noushie! my cat. Yeah he's absolutely wicked!
So here's a complete lyrics of this song, borrowed from AZLyrics.com
[V1:]
I remember when all the games began
Remember every little lie and every last goodbye
Promises you broke, words you choked on
and I never walked away,
it's still a mystery to me
[Pre-Chorus:]
Well I'm so empty
I'm better off without you and you're better off without me
Well you're so unclean
I'm better off without you and you're better off without me
[Chorus:]
The lying, the bleeding, the screaming
Was tearing me apart
The hatred (deceiving), the beatings; it's over
[V2:]
Paint the mirrors black to forget you
I still picture your face and the way you used to taste
Roses in a glass, dead and wilted
To you this all was nothing
Everything to you is nothing
[Pre-Chorus:]
Well you're so filthy
I'm better off without you and you're better off without me
Well I'm so ugly
You're better off without me and I'm better off alone
[Chorus:]
The lying, the bleeding, the screaming
Was tearing me apart
The hatred, the beatings (disaster); it's over
As wicked as you are, you're beautiful to me
You're the darkest burning star, you're my perfect disease
[Chorus:]
The lying, the bleeding, the screaming
Was tearing me apart
The hatred, the beatings; it's over
Disaster
The lying, the bleeding, the screaming
Was tearing me apart
The hatred, the beatings; it's over
Disaster
It's over now...
I absolutely did not want to post the video since, let's face it, it's not beautiful at all. I expected something more poetic than just a couple drinking beer and doing things and then the woman committing suicide because, well, because there is no reason at all. Anyway, anyway, hope you'll enjoy the song! :D

Army of the Sun - Roadrunner United
The album was released in the US on the 10th of October 2005.
So much for the album history.
Length : 3:48
Vocal : Tim Williams
Rhythm Guitar - Robb Flynn, Jordan Whelan
Bass - Christian Olde Wolbers
Drums - Andols Herrick
It's not a video. You'll just hear the song and see Roadrunner's logo.
And here's the lyrics:
I was electrified by your eyes as they froze
Inviting me inside of your life to grow
Everlasting setting sun
You’re my angel, you’re the only one
No one close and nothing compares in the end
We will be together again
I'm so mesmerized by the light you expose
Igniting a fire deep inside of my soul
Everlasting setting sun
You’re my angel, you’re the only one
No one close and nothing compares in the end
We will be together again
Darkness shall fall with the strength of us all
Darkness shall fall
Darkness shall fall with the strength of us all
It shall fall
I raise my white flag
It’s the last flag I’ll ever raise
Don't stay away
Staring at you and all you are
I believe
Yeah I believe
Yeah I believe
(So much sadness, what happened to happiness...)
Everlasting setting sun
You’re my angel, you’re the only one
No one close and nothing compares in the end
You’re my angel, you’re the only one
We will be together again
We will be together again
You’re my angel, you’re the only one
No one close and nothing compares in the end"
What I see when I hear it:

Anyway that was my crush of the month. The song sounds romantic when seen in this angle, ain't it? :D

Reflect the storm
Here's the vid from Youtube:
And the lyrics!
Many bullets penetrate me
Embrace me
Tell me stories of golden gods
The precision in your voice
Pierce the walls that I've built
Your eyes reach deep in me
Take a chance
They don't come much bigger than this
Dark star spend another day with me
A dead surface that doesn't reflect
The storm underneath
Take the chance
Bring me the calm
...And it leaves nothing
Expose the dark side,
Aching and emotional,
Expose the dark side,
Impossible to tame
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
Throw yourself into the eye of chaos
Infiltrate me,
Sneak out before I awake
Take out the trash and burn it
Try and find a beautiful place to lay
These fragile bones of mine
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really...
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
... And it leaves nothing
Expose the dark side, aching and emotional
Expose the dark side, impossible to tame
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really...
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really...
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
My Fave part: Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
What I see when I hear it:
Freaky huh? But I told you I'm in love with this song! :P
Take Care people and my rolling aliens! *wink at Jev*

Another one!
Nope nope, I'm not going to ask you to donate something, or to help a cause out, or whatever, that will come later! Haha!
The thing is, (I'm getting a little pompous here), there'll be yet again a concert on the 25th of this month, that is August, for all those dummies out here at Laribluz in Curepipe at about noon. (Correct me if I'm wrong).
So I guess this time, since you know about it, you'll have to move your pretty asses there. Nope I'm not gonna benefit in any way if more of you go there. It's just that I'm sick and tired of constantly seeing guys at those concerts. I hope there'll be quite some gals who'll be able to make it!
A lil' summary:
Venue: Laribluz
Date: 25th of August
Time: 12 to 5 pm

Infested-maggots
Tribus

The Rock Star? Oh Please!
Why do they call this guy a rock star in the first place? I've come up with some possible explanations to explain this.
1) The indian perception of rock music differs from that of the rest of the world.
2) In fact they do not mean "rock" they mean rokk or roc, or roch which is a lame genre of music which basically uses all sorts of instrument to piss Morinn off.
Okay people, don't get me wrong here. I would not have said anything against Reshammiya if he had been doing his thing and not calling it rock! Hell, he could even have corrected people about this whole rock issue! But nah! He chose to be an asshole. Even in the movie that he stars in, people call him a rock star! Why Oh WHY!
Take a look at this, and tell me if it's rock!
The stupidity does not end here. Even in Mauritius people think they are listening to rock when they listen to Reshammiya. I've got no problem with the fact that you listen to it; not everyone can have great music taste, but hell don't call yourself rock fans!
And, by the way, this is what a rock star looks like!

when crappy reporters piss me off

During some of the rare times that I've glanced through the press recently I came across an article written by a reporter who obviously did not have any knowledge of the matter at hand; the matter was rock. Okay, I may not be the most unbiased person right here but the guy or gal (I really don't care) who wrote this article was of the opinion that all songs classified in the rock genre do not contain any lyrics. And so, he/she was reviewing a local band and stated that the said band forms part of the rare rock bands "a parole". Unless my French is totally dumb, did he/she try to say that it's rare to find a band classified in the rock genre (without mentioning sub-genres) whose songs have got wordings and thus a sense?
So, for fans of rock out there, know this, you don't listen to anything at all! Hehe... Guess he meant just some guitar riffs and some grrrrrrrrrrrrr from the part of the singer.
The totally stupid judgement that the guy/gal has passed has struck me like some form of racism. It's not only because I like rock and it's not because I write songs which are gonna be super popular in the near future, hehe, it's just that I know I have experienced, yeah I said experienced the most wonderful lyrics from rock songs. Just like I won't go about saying that the musical preferences of others suck I expect people to feel the same way about me. It's totally crappy to see a journalist pass foolish judgements on musical genres since they were supposed to be objective persons. I'm mixing up my thoughts here. But guess you've grasp the important part, the article has really pissed me off.
Ah well, here's the lyrics of "Reflect the storm" my new crush!
Embrace me, tell me stories of golden gods
The precision in your voice pierce the walls that I've built
Your eyes reach deep in me
Take a chance, they don't come much bigger than this
Dark star, spend another day with me, a dead surface that doesn't
Reflect the storm underneath. Take the chance
Bring me the calm
... And it leaves NOTHING
Expose the dark side, aching and emotional
Expose the dark side, impossible to tame
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
Throw yourself into the eye of chaos
Infiltrate me, sneak out before I awake
Take out the trash and burn it
Try to find a beautiful place to lay
These fragile bones of mine
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
... And it leaves NOTHING
Expose the dark side, aching and emotional
Expose the dark side, impossible to tame
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
Away from the light of the sun
Away what is really me
Away from the light of the sun
Away I find what is really me
I wish I could be injected with the song! Ah well, sniff!
So long rock buds!

something jaded...
ever felt like this? Jaded? This song was running in my head since morning so I thought why not see the video and blog about it while I'm at it. By the way, the girl in this video is Mila Kunis whom you have probably recognized from the real awesome That 70s show.
So here goes ladies and gents and my jaded aliens.
by the way, have you ever wondered why I always end my posts by "ladies and gents and my (adjective) aliens"?
Some people have asked me that. The "ladies and gentlemen" part is cause Robb Flynn often says this and I find it totally awesome. The alien part cause there are unknown people out there viewing blogs and increasing our number of views!! Booh!! Hihi.
