No Desperate Housewives for tonight.

Desperate Housewives Banner
I know it's not the end of the world that season 5 of Desperate Housewives is over on Canal+. But hell, I've been spending so many Thursday nights during the past months watching this show that I feel kind of empty now. I know this kind of relationship with a TV show is totally insane. I gotta get a hold of myself and most importantly I gotta find a good show to watch tonight between 20h and 21h30. Hehe.

Totally unrelated, today I baked the Nth banana pie of this year. I don't even want to count how much I have baked so far but one thing's for sure, I don't wanna taste or even hear about banana pies for now. Urgh!

Banana Pie

Anyway dudettes and dudes, I gotta go. It's TV time already. So long!

P.S: I totally love this Desperate Housewives teaser video

The week has just started.

After the hectic wedding weekend (a close cousin got married), it seems that the week has now started. I'm readily welcoming the normal clothes, normal eating habit and normal smile all over again. Like one of my aunts said yesterday "no more of these disguises".

You see the thing about almost all social events where you get to meet all kind of people is that you can't always be yourself.

First it's because of the fancy clothes. Unless you are someone who dresses up "bling-bling" everyday, you won't feel at ease wearing clothes you normally wear to weddings.

Then comes the food... Oh my! Sometimes it's so delicious that you actually forget you've got only one stomach and that the one stomach can get upset with the spicy and oily food you've put in it.

And finally it's the smile, the smile you gotta permanently plaster on your face 'cause most of the time you won't be hearing a damn thing from what someone is trying to tell you, 'cause of the loud music, so you gotta smile to show that your friendly.

So all these will be over today and I hope someone else does not get married anytime soon. The wedding was awesome fun but oh so tiring!

Orange Horror

Of all the horrible things that tread this world, none are more horrible than Orange tees. Damn, I've even got a wrinkled nose as I'm writing this.

I think I'll use it for my daily desk cleaning. The fabric suits this purpose well!
So long dudettes and dudes and my oranged aliens.

Confessions

Feedburner is being a whore, it has screwed up my feeds and no one is getting updates from my blog. Contrary to what you might believe, I'm quite zen about it. As long as I can read my stuff, I'll let the problem get solved by itself or not...

Anyway, I have decided to make the most of this little period of "incognito posting" by writing some meaningless confessions which will keep me busy before I'm off for watch Desperate Housewives in some minutes.

So here goes with the meaningless confessions:

I just shaved my legs using my dad's shaving cream and now I'm smelling like a guy. :s

I'm dead freaked out when I receive anonymous comments but it's fun, it's like my own personal scary movie.

I love receiving hate mails. It's amazing how much energy people put in writing those.

I hate banana pies. I've baked a total of 4 of them this year and I've had enough.

I cried when I watched Princess Protection Program. Damn Selena Gomez!

When my toe was aching last year, it was in fact a toe fracture and I still find this ridiculous!

So much for my dumb confessions dudettes and dudes and my unshocked aliens. It's Desperate Housewives time! At last!

Those three years

were no steady years...

I had the opportunity of being crazy, thrilled, possessive, obsessive... you name it.

We downed lots of pizzas, pastas, pastries, miles, petrol, movies, words, songs, concerts...

I love you \m/

Its a wasp war baby!

Ever since I am on a temporary holiday, my parents have deemed it right to assign me insignificant missions that are supposed to spice up my life a little. Today, one of them consisted of going on a reconnaissance mission to locate a wasp nest so that it can be removed during the weekend. As per the strict guidelines which I received from my parents last night, I was supposed to only locate the nest from afar and could photograph it (they know how much I love taking photos of everything) but I had to remain a notable distance away from it, which I did at first.

I initially only photographed the nest and got back home. Then I thought "Damn, I am so obedient". And me, being me, I set out again with the aim of removing the nest myself. I had prior to that donned a pair of pants and a huge jacket, of course. Armed with the gardening tool below and some courage, I set out to defy the beast.

The tool

The strategy that I adopted was simple: I cut down the branch containing the nest. At this point I should precise that there were no wasps lounging in the nest or else I would have had beautiful scars on my face to show my kids one day. So the branch fell along with the nest. I wrapped the wasp nest in a newspaper page containing some crappy Courts adverts. I wanted to burn the nest down but I thought I would just dump it in the garbage bin instead of ruining my beloved grasses.

Cutting the branch

Tadaa! The nest

Wasp nest wrapped in a newspaper

Post-war scene

Ah! So much for my wasp war dudettes and dudes and my unimpressed aliens. The hero in me is a little turned off by the fact that there were no real danger in tackling the wasp nest. Damn wasps! They knew I was coming, that's for sure...

It's all about pizzas

This past Saturday I had the best pizza in my whole life. Believe it or not, it was a simple four-cheese pizza, which consisted of a tomato sauce base and the four cheeses were gorgonzola, mozzarella, mascarpone and Parmesan. Jev and I went to a nice little Italian restaurant in Trou aux biches; the place is called Voglia Matta. We shared a large pizza between the two of us and I was totally full after leaving there. I bet that was because of the four cheeses. :p

I can't wait to go to Voglia Matta again and try out some other pizzas or just to stick with the four cheese yet again. Hehe... I'm glad we've finally found a good pizza-maker in the north.

We had previously tried Trattoria at Grand Bay but their "margherita" pizza which consisted of mozzarella and tomato, was not to my taste: I found the crust a little too crunchy plus the topping tasted bland. I don't know how. Perhaps it was not well seasoned.

However, the cheese pizza I have least enjoyed in all my life (despite the "enjoy me" flag) is Pizza Hut's new 3 cheese pizza. This will serve me as a lesson for wanting to have lunch at Pizza Hut!

So dudettes and dudes, what's the best pizza you've had so far? Is there any place you'd like to recommend?

Twisted Proverbs

This is what you get when you ask some drunk people to complete proverbs for you:

Much ado about... Britney Spears

Do right and fear... your boss

Practice makes... you look dumb

No sooner said than... regretted

So many head, so many... butts

To be as fit as a... Honda Jazz

Every cloud has... gas

There is no place like... that cool club we went to last night

God helps those who...are in the mafia

Long ways, long... glasses of beer

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is...the Cyclops

Empty vessels make...no food

Of two evils, choose the... more profitable one

There is no accounting for... Tomorrow

In the month of May... sleep, get laid and skip classes

In one's birthday... boozing party

As large as... Henry's girlfriend

To be left high and... drunk

To drain the cup of... coffee

To find the chink in someone's... chick

Violence breeds... Eminem

Truth is stranger than... the barman of the 5th avenue bar

You can take a horse to the water, but you cannot make him... dance the flamenco

Here are the original quotes, they were taken from the dictionary above.
  • Much ado about nothing
  • Do right and fear no man
  • Practice makes perfect
  • No sooner said than done
  • So many head, so many minds
  • To be as fit as a fidle
  • Every cloud has a silver lining
  • There is no place like home
  • God helps those who help themselves
  • Long ways, long lies
  • In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king
  • Empty vessels make most noise
  • Of two evils, choose the lesser
  • There is no accounting for tastes
  • In the month of May cast ne'er a clout away
  • In one's birthday suit
  • As large as life
  • To be left high and dry
  • To drain the cup of bitterness
  • To find the chink in someone's armour
  • Violence breeds violence
  • Truth is stranger than fiction
  • You can take a horse to the water, but you cannot make it drink
By now you might have guessed that I made it all up! Haha! It was fun twisting those proverbs. I thought of some really adult ones, but I refrained myself from posting them.

If you liked this post, you might also want to check out a similar one on keepmetal.

Take care dudettes and dudes and my aliens. I'm off to have a good bath and then Desperate Housewives! Yay!

Outing with kids

I just came home from an outing with form 1 kids. They are in fact my sister's students and at first I thought it would not be fun. I had gone on a similar trip in 2006 and I learnt that kids, especially in great number, are really difficult to manage and what you thought would be a pleasant trip might well turn into your worst nightmare and leave you with a hell of a headache. My sister literally dragged me to her place of work and convinced me by saying that I would be able to make some great photos if I accompanied her. The planned itinerary was Casela bird park and then some beach in Flic en Flac.

Despite all my reluctance, I ended up having fun. This trip brought back some good memories and I realised that some of the features which were there during my secondary school outings are still present today.

For instance there were:
  • The competition between buses, provoked by students, as to which one would reach the destination first.
  • The booing when your bus overtakes those of your friends.
  • The singing and asking the driver to make it quick: "appuyez chauffeur..." :p Today, the driver was a particularly muscled and tattooed guy, so I advised the student not to mess up too much with him. Haha
  • The sharing of cakes and other foodstuff like mint sweets and chewing gums, mostly the Hollywood one.
  • The intense silence due to tiredness on the way back home.
On the overall the outing went great and if I had to do it again, dudettes and dudes, I would definitely do it, which is good since I'm going back tomorrow! :D Hihi!

About the rain

rain

It's still here. Yeah! Mightier than ever and I'm wondering from where the clouds are getting so much water to throw at us. But I must admit that it feels cozy to sit inside and watch the rain fall while having some cups of hot beverages.

Below, some random pictures of the day. I've gone through some Egyptian art books and magazines to seek inspiration for my room's decoration. I've finally opted for a modern but Egyptian touch for the deco. Let's cross fingers and hope it works fine.

The rain can be inspiring after all. :D I'll leave you on this note dudettes and dudes and my inspired aliens. Take good care of yourselves.

Independence Day, our way...

Yesterday was awesome, everything went as planned. I can say with full assurance that it was the best Independence Day I've ever had! razz OK, for those who haven't understood what it's all about, we had a sort of picnic yesterday, was at Baie du Tombeau, somewhere near a tree, rocks and the sea. The event had been planned some weeks ago but I was fearing that it would never occur. But it did! :P

I was supposed to cook something but since I was kind of taken up the previous day I made some sort of tortillas with chicken and mushrooms. The other foods were awesome. OK, this is sounding more and more like a kid's essay.

To end this I'd say that it was a totally crazy day, the kind of day you wish could come everyday! hihi! I haven't got photos of the day but you can check out at Rooch and Keli's place for pics.

So long dudettes and dudes and my independent aliens. I'm looking forward to the next independence day! Yayy!

Oh great! It won't ever stop...

About that thing that I did yesterday, I can't tell you now. It'll be out in a week or so, maybe less than that, so you'll definitely get to know. All I gotta say was that it went great and I was quite comfortable with the questions. mrgreen

Right now I'm having a terrible screen problem. My laptop screen is dimming and my monitor is omitting reds, that is I'm seeing the world in blues and greens only from my PC screen. This reminds you of a song? Oh well! I gotta fix that problem soon, cause my not so fabulous eyes won't be able to handle that for long.

Aah! so much for a boring Saturday dudettes and dudes and my anxious aliens. I gotta pimp my screens! Yayy! rolleyes

Yet again...

There's nothing better than an appointment with unknown people to make you feel conscious as hell. Like what if I have a bad hair day? Or what if I look all sweaty? What if they decide that I'm not the right one for this? Or what if what I write is not good enough?

Aargh, so much thoughts are nagging me these days. I've even lied down with potato slices on my eyes during the day. I'll never be able to make it, really. But if I did... IF I did, I'll let you know about it and you can be happy for me or mad at me for not telling you about it. Whichever the case it'll be great if it happened.

Oh yeah I know, whatever I said does not make sense now. It'll be in the near future. You'll know about it. And for now, so much for my secrets dudettes and dudes and my curious aliens. Now that I've told you guys about it, I'm feeling much better. Hihi... Now I understand why some call this therapy. You were so damn right!

Realisations break in.

The zeal is gone and I caught myself watching TV for more hours than what's good for me. I realised that Half Light, the movie, sucks... big time. Believe in the beyond, yeah really... Who the hell were they trying to kid when they made that movie? Hmm, that kid in the movie maybe? OK, I agree some parts of the movie were freaky, I was almost tempted to be scared but then when the ghosts started being friendly and helping out the main protagonist I knew that this movie was not meant for me. But I kept on watching, just in case... And the next thing I knew was that the movie was over and all's well that ends well. Crappy quote.

And now I'm waiting for my weekly dose of séance interdite when I could watch a great B-series movie without suffering the worst disappointment of my life.

And finally I've realised that a world without kohl is not a world for me to live in. I gotta buy an eyeliner real soon.

So much for the realisations dudettes and dudes and my surprised aliens, my TV is feeling lonely. See ya'll.

Holy Pilgrimage?

grand bassin

nandhi statue at grand bassin

It was close to that. We went to Grand Bassin today. Woke up early, bathed, dressed up, my mum prepared a picnic and we were there in one hour. Yeah! Ain't that awesome? So we reached Grand Bassin, had trouble to find a proper parking space. And minutes later we were praying down there at the edge of the lake. We completed all the rounds of deities and donations in less than one hour. While returning to the car I saw this wonderful purple flower and I could not resist. I managed to get one that has roots to it. Yeah holy pilgrimages are truly beneficial.

purple flower

But seriously, religions and religious festivals should not be taken too seriously as some people just might be taking advantage of that piety and god-fearing nature most people have. For instance I've noticed a serious seasonal inflation regarding the price of bananas, coconuts etc... Basically all those fruits and provisions usually used during this period of time.

Plus they were actually selling bael leaves at the entrance of the great Shiv temples at Grand Bassin. Yeah you might say it's just donation but... who the hell are they kidding? I know that temples and religious institutions have costs but I sense that they are more than breaking even here.

Thanks survivaliq.com for the bael leaf image.

Anyway so much for the dark issue and now for some fun issue, today is Kushie's birthday! He is a five year old little boy now. hihi! Happy birthday Toops (though I know you won't be reading my blog.) mrgreen

Aah so much for today dudettes and dudes and my cheering aliens. This post was a perfect example of a what I did today post! lol

Le bleu et le jaune

juice

coconut tree

yellow and blue

yellow and blue

yellow and blue

I've got a crush on everything that is blue and yellow, combined or not. I've been inspired by Keli's post on primary colors to make up my own version with two primary colors I absolutely love. Of course the crappy cam-phone of mine did not capture well the colors. Aargh, never mind.

The first picture is not from me, it is found on the box of a juice glasses set which I bought recently. I'm proud to say that the glasses are totally mine! hihi.

So much for my yellow and blue crush dudettes and dudes and my yellowed and blued aliens. Cheerios.

It's the day

Today is the day. I woke up to heavy rains and winds and thinking why the hell this always happened to me. Can't I have a normal, sunny day for my birthday. I mean please? It's not because I'm piscean that I'm supposed to love water. OK I do love water, but not the kind of water that gets everywhere and ruins birthday plans. Late at night in bed I was thinking that perhaps the forces above were angry at me for something. Yeah I know it's a ridiculous thought but hell don't ask me to think logically at 3 in the morning.

Right now it's almost 10 a.m and I'm waiting for my nani (grandma) to wake up so that I could call her to hear her wishes! Aww she's cute!

Right now I really wanna go to Mahebourg. That's where I was born! I wanna get back to the roots! Perhaps I'll pay the village a visit soon!

Oh and this is Cookie and Kushie, seeing them behave nice towards each other is one of the best birthday gifts I've ever received.

About the birthday food, there would be dhal pita, fried rice and potato chips (special request from me, hihi). For the cakes, there would be the absolutely important birthday cake, barfees and samoussas. I'll be posting pictures by tonight. ;)

It is tonight, so here are the pictures:

The barfee (light orange color, square cakes have been cut by me and the birthday cake decorated by me.) Hihi!

So long dudettes and dudes and my aging aliens. So much for the 23rd.

P.S: Happy birthday PTr! mrgreen Yeah I share my great day with a political party. How sweet. rolleyes
